India, Singapore CECA docs
India and Singapore signed a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement in year 2005. On 20 June 2005, Indian cabinet approved the CECA (as it is more commonly known as). I was wondering for some time what is covered in this India-Singapore CECA and why it is called as CECA and not as a FTA?…
Few months ago, I started searching online if I could get answers to my questions and to my surprise Indian Government has made available this entire agreement online for its citizens and companies to take advantage of this facility.
Secondly, the agreement is called a CECA and not a FTA. My understanding is that the agreement covers much more than just trading of goods. It covers services, intelluctual property cooperation, Education and much more.
The following links will direct you to the respective sites from Government of India and are correct as of this writing. The first link contains the agreement in its entirety and the second is a press release on Indian cabinet approval for this CECA.
